Twitter as a mode of communication / teaching device?

A clip (Part 3) from an interview I did with Owen Cantrell from Georgia State University at the Digital Media and Composition Institute this summer at the Ohio State University in Columbus. My response to his question: “Do you have any experience with Twitter as a mode of communication or as a teaching device?” (I sort of expanded the scope of the question to social media in the classroom; Facebook, blogs, Twitter, etc.)

Do you you Facebook, Twitter, or blogs in your classroom? How do you see those sorts of social technologies fitting in with your existing uses of Blackboard/Angel/etc? Any other thoughts?
